About NH Department of Business and Economic Affairs (BEA)

New Hampshire doesn't have an official broadband office. As of mid summer 2021, it launched a broadband matching grant initiative and fund. It's administered through the Department of Business and Economic Affairs' Office of Strategic Initiatives.

The initiative was created by SB 85, a bill signed into law by Governor Chris Sununu in July 2021.

The legislation promotes the development of a gigabit broadband. Unserved areas are defined as those without at least 25 Mbps x 3 Mbps from at least one broadband service provider.

The legislation requires participating towns and internet service companies to cover at least 50 percent of the cost of building broadband networks while the state would provide the rest.
