Soon, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration will release its Notices of Funding Opportunity (NOFOs) for programs totaling nearly $50 billion of new broadband grants aimed at ending America’s digital canyon once and for all.NTIA’s programs will unleash more broadband funding over the next few years than all prior U.S. broadband funding programs combined. In the right hands, such resources could kick off nothing short of a new chapter in American dynamism. NTIA’s historic announcement is the “starting gun” for states, local governments, and network builders.&nbsp;Join Alan in a lively discussion with Broadband Breakfast’s <a href="https://discuss.broadband.money/u/4c987ac7?show_back_link=true">Drew Clark</a>. More than 22 million households rely on the Affordable Connectivity Plan access broadband at their home. If Congress decides not to provide additional funding, enrollments for the ACP will close on February 8, 2024, and funding for the program will run out in April of 2024.

Gigi is the first Executive Director of the <a href="https://americanpublicbroadband.org/">American Association for Public Broadband</a> (AAPB).&nbsp; She is also a Senior Fellow and Public Advocate at the Benton Institute for Broadband &amp; Society. Prior to joining AAPB, she served as an attorney at the FCC and founded Public Knowledge. Phil has more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunications sector and during that time has seen over $100 million in funding awarded to his clients. He has participated in litigation and policy resolution at both the state and federal level, including in front of the FCC. He has experience working with RDOF, BEAD, NTIA's Middle Mile, USDA's ReConnect, Community Connect, Telecommunications Infrastructure Loan, and ARPA's SLFRF and CPF programs. Steve has worn many hats over the course of his career: consultant, professor, journalist, editor, and more. Steve is the editor-at-large of Broadband Communities Magazine, a role that he has held since 2004. Our co-host, Drew, has been early proponent of better broadband, better lives, and founded the Broadband Census crowdsourcing campaign for broadband data. He presides over Broadband Breakfast, which advocates for higher-capacity internet everywhere through topical, timely and intelligent coverage.
